Anatomy Dimensions Upper Limbs


This Upper Limbs course incorporates individual workshops from the Upper Limb series. It is an intensive program that combines related modules. You will focus on a number of specific anatomical elements and then bring it all together as an integrated repertoire for that area.

Part One – Slings & Roundabouts

April 27, 2019: 8.00 am – 12.00 noon

In this workshop we explore the muscular slings of stability, which are different to myofascal slings. We teach you the roles of these slings and how utilizing and cueing them properly can achieve fantastic results in a movement class. This workshop covers the anatomy and theory as well as practical components where exercises are explored to facilitate a deeper understanding of the teaching.

Part Two – Neck & Jaw 

April 27, 2019: 1.00 pm – 4.30 pm

This workshop explores the anatomy of the neck and jaw and the teaching tips that can facilitate improved movement in a class. We explore the anatomy, common conditions of the neck and jaw and how these can be accommodated through careful modifications and appropriate cueing. Most importantly there is a focus on encouraging correct techniques so that we do not facilitate further movement dysfunction in our clients. A neck and jaw mat class will be taught as part of this workshop.

Part Three – Shoulders 

April 28, 2019: 8.00 am – 12.00 noon

This workshop is designed to bring the understanding of the shoulder joint, humeral positioning, clavicular rhythm, scapula rhythm and thoracic mobility. It is designed to explore the anatomy, common conditions and dysfunctions of the shoulder girdle and how patterns can be corrected, modified and accommodated through clever application, cueing and programming. The focus is on practical understandings and applications of what can be done to help shoulders.

Part Four – Hands & Elbows

April 28, 2019: 1.00 pm – 4.30 pm

This workshop is designed to bring the understanding of the elbow joint, forearm and hands. It is designed to explore the anatomy, common pathologies and dysfunctions of the hands and elbows  and how patterns can be corrected, modified and accommodated through clever application, cueing and programming. The focus is on practical understandings and applications and will include a special hand exercise class.
